Elkland Area School Profile 2010 - 2011The Northern Tioga School DistrictOur school district encompasses approximately 335 square
miles, situated mainly between Potter County and Rt.15 in Tioga County, 100 miles
north of Williamsport, PA along the NY State line. Elkland Area High School is
a traditional public high school serving approximately 253 students 7-12. EnrollmentElkland Junior/Senior High School
services 253 students from grades 7-12. On average there are 40 students per grade
which helps students receive more personalized attentions from the schools' faculty
and staff. CurriculumAt Elkland Area
High School the focus of students' education is on preparing them for life after
high school. The programs include college preparatory classes. EAHS offers Honors
English from grade 9th through 12th. As a part of Elkland's strong academic curriculum,
ACE courses are offered in both Calculus and Statistics. With ACE courses, students
can take advantage of affordable college credits from Corning Community College
that transfer to many institutions of higher education. As for trade and technical
courses Elkland High School offers Computer Applications, Computer Science, Web
Design, Accounting, Mechanical Drawing, Wood and Metal shop, and foods courses.
For other vocational programs Elkland works with Cowanesque Valley and Williamson
High school in allowing students to participate in their vocational programs.
Cowanesque Valley offers Accounting Technician, Agriculture Production and Mechanics,
Forest Harvesting, Horticulture Operation Management, and National Resources Management.
Williamson offers Culinary classes, an on-site preschool for community children,
Small Engine Repair, and Accounting. Graduation Requirements
Statistical Profile Class of 2010
Grade Point Average(GPA) and class rank are based on all traditionally graded courses, except remedial courses. The highest repeat grade only is figured in GPA. Class Rank is based on all students. Accreditation Elkland Area High School is accredited by the Pennsylvania State Department of Education. |
