Faculty Advisor Program

The purpose of the teacher advisor program is to build a relationship between each student and a faculty member. It is important students know there is a faculty member within the school that knows and cares about them. This program will provide students with added guidance and assistance in preparing for their life after high school. All students in the high school will be assigned an advisor. The expectation will be that the student will continue to meet with the advisor throughout their high school career.

The program will focus on grade checks and developing a plan to ensure all students pass their current courses. Students will also look at exploring career options based on their interests. Each student will make a list of goals within the first month of school to be accomplished before the end of the year. Individual goals can be based on academic, vocational, or social ideas.

Students will be assigned to teachers through random selection. There will be a scheduled meeting time for students and teachers to meet every three weeks. However, the student and teacher are both encouraged to meet more often if it is possible with their schedules. During the meetings, the advisor and advisees will discuss specified topics. Through the program, the advisor will help students focus on completing courses and working toward graduation.

*New students to Elkland Area High School will be assigned an advisor as soon as they have completed enrollment.

Teacher Advisor Meeting Dates

Students will meet with their advisors on Day 5 R.A.M. periods. This will be (unless told otherwise) directly after 5th period. Classes will be shortened to make
room for this.
